I felt it important to clearly define why I created Dad Diary.
It was to make my daughter proud of me.
As a bonus, I wanted to share my experiences as a father of one daughter, in the hope that it would make other dad’s lives just that little bit easier.
My child is the most important person in my life (joint place with my wife!), and I dedicate much of my time to her. From school, homework, teaching morals, bringing fun into her life, and creating a calming and pleasant home environment – there are so many experiences and tips I would like to share with other fathers.
Now, I know I’m not the perfect father, there are many ways in which I can improve – so I hope and know, that along this journey, I will also learn from the other fathers within the community.
Isn’t a platform for fathers, excluding mothers?
This is a thought and big concern which often crossed my mind when creating this platform. A platform predominately for fathers could be viewed as being against women/mothers. But my intentions couldn’t be further from this…
I’m happily married, and I fully support my wife. But I’ll admit to a bit of envy — mothers have entire platforms built for connecting with each other, sharing advice, and asking for help. Fathers don’t really have that. Instead, most of us just bottle things up. I believe that changes when fathers start learning, improving, and understanding themselves better — and that it doesn’t just make us better fathers. It makes us better husbands too.
