My first post – why I started Dad Diary

As a first topic, I felt it important to clearly define why I created Dad Diary.

I wanted to share my experiences as a father of one daughter, in the hope that it would make other dad’s lives just that little bit easier.

My child is the most important person in my life (joint place with my wife!), and I dedicate so much of my time to her. From school, homework, teaching morals, bringing fun into her life, and creating a calming and pleasant home environment – there are so many experiences and tips I would like to share with other fathers.

Now, I know I’m not the perfect father, there are many ways in which I can improve – so I hope and know, that along this journey, I will also learn from the other fathers within the community.

Isn’t a platform for fathers, exlcuding mothers?

This is a thought and big concern which often crossed my mind when creating this platform. A platfrom exclusively for fathers could be viewed as being against women/mothers. But my intentions couldn’t be further from this…

I am a happily married man, and fully support my wife. But I am also slightly jealous that mothers have more platforms to communicate and support each other. It oftens feels like fathers don’t have these avenues to ask each other for advice and help, and we often bottle-up our thoughts and emotions. Ultimately, I believe that fathers improving themselves, learning and understanding will enable us to not only be better fathers, but also better husbands.

How can you help the cause?
